Although essentially a self-taught artist, Clint attended Lincoln College of Art in England. His work has been shown in several Galleries and is owned by discriminating collectors in Canada, Britain and the United States. He received an Award of Excellence in the 1990 “Images and Objects” exhibition at the B.C. Festival of the Arts.

Clint has worked in a variety of media – oils, graphite,  pen and ink, scratchboard. Soapstone carving caught his interest in the eighties and he found that his natural abilities extended to three-dimensional representation.

The varying colours and patterns found in soapstone from different locations challenges his imagination, bringing to each of his sculptures a unique composition of form and material. Clint’s love of animals and nature has been the focus of most of his work. His exquisite soapstone sculptures capture the subjects in a brief moment of time and timelessness – an orca breaching – a loon preening a stray feather – a trio of young belugas at play; all convey his knowledge and understanding of the ways of wildlife.

Originally from Inverness, Scotland, Clint served for 10 years in the Royal Air Force, in England, Wales, Cyprus and the Middle East. After his discharge, he continued in the aircraft industry in Scotland, Abu Dhabi, and in Vancouver, where he lived with his wife Irene after emigrating to Canada in 1974. With their shared love of animals and nature, Irene and Clint became involved with a number of different groups. Clint is a former President of the Wildlife Rescue Association of B.C., the Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society (OWL), the Wildlife Rehabbers Network of B.C., the Sunshine Coast SPCA, and a former Board member of the Vancouver SPCA and the BCSPCA. He was also Shelter Manager of the Sunshine Coast SPCA for 7 years. Clint and Irene moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1988.

Clint and Irene live near Gibsons, B.C. on the Sunshine Coast. Clint has a home-based studio and gallery, (look for the purple banner on your left on Hwy. 101 as you leave Gibsons towards Sechelt) and he and Irene operate the non-profit Gibsons Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre from their home.
